It's the tale of the fall (and redemption of sorts) of Beau Brummell, Regency-era wit, gentleman, and sartorial advisor and favourite to Prince George, later the prince regent for whom the Regency is named. It deals with the famous falling out of Beau and the prince - in this version, over Beau's affections for a young soldier named Toby. The fallout has far-reaching implications for Beau, but he survives with a little help from his friends and goes on to a happier ending than history allows.
